William R. Knox is a results-driven sports tourism and venue development executive with more than 25 years of experience leading destination marketing, facility operations, and strategic growth initiatives.
As Senior Vice President of Business Development at The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC), he leads the full sales cycle from prospecting to close, securing new venue-management contracts and expanding SFC’s national footprint. William develops and implements revenue growth strategies and incentive programs, oversees complex contract negotiations and RFP responses, and cultivates executive-level relationships across the public and private sectors to drive long-term partnerships and measurable community and economic impact.
Widely recognized as a leader in sports tourism strategy and facility innovation, William has served on numerous boards and advisory councils, including the Indiana Destination Development Corporation, Indiana Sports Corporation, Sports Indiana, and Indiana University’s Tourism, Events, and Sport Management Advisory Council. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences on topics such as venue operations, sports technology, and sports tourism development, and has contributed research on the return to youth sports following COVID-19 through the IUPUI Sports Innovation Institute.
