A history of purpose-driven growth
SFC is the nation’s leading company for planning, developing, and managing sports, recreation, events, and entertainment venues. Since 2003, we’ve guided projects in over 3,000 communities and overseen $15 billion in developed projects, with our managed venues now hosting nearly 30 million annual visits.
Our history is a story of evolving to meet our clients' needs.
2003
It all began with Sports Facilities Advisory (SFA), founded to provide clients seeking to open a sports facility with the industry’s most accurate financial forecasts and strategic plans. Through this work, we saw a need for specialized operational expertise to optimize underperforming venues.
2006
This led to the founding of Sports Facilities Management in 2006. SFC has grown to become the nation's leader in venue management for youth and amateur sports facilities, including aquatics and ice venues. SFC is also the leader in entertainment venue management.
2019
We established Sports Facilities Development (SFD) in 2019. SFD provides owner’s representation, venue planning, and procurement guidance, ensuring new facilities are built for peak performance.
Launched the SF Network and the SF Network website to showcase our diverse set of sports, events, and recreation venues to event rights holders and communities eager to develop or optimize a game-changing facility.
2020
Our company rebranded as the Sports Facilities Companies to better reflect our full “plan, fund, develop, and operate” capabilities and the broader SF Network of managed venues.
In an effort to live up to the core principle of "serving more and serving better", SFC launched and invested in several verticals, starting with Hype Nation Volleyball in 2020 and acquiring Max Cheer a few years later.
2021
SFC launches Away Team, team travel and lodging platform.
2025 & 2026
We expanded our capacity to serve ice venues in some of America's most prominent cities, including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. SFC now operates over 100 venues nationwide.

Next, we continue investing in innovation, partnerships, and people to scale our impact: launching new digital tools, expanding equity-focused programs like SF Access, and shaping the next generation of inclusive, financially sustainable sports, recreation, entertainment, and event destinations.
